Meet Amelia Key | Pilates Trainer
Amelia had always loved movement and sport. At school, she threw herself into nearly every team she could, but her real passions were athletics and cross country, alongside hockey. She also tried to keep up her dancing, unwilling to give up something that made her feel so free.
Everything changed when she was 17. A severe injury, followed by post-viral fatigue, brought her active life to an abrupt halt. The routines she had once thrived on—training, competing, pushing herself—were suddenly replaced with rest, uncertainty, and frustration.
For someone who had always defined herself through motion, being forced to slow down felt like losing a part of who she was. Yet, in that stillness, Amelia began to confront a different kind of challenge—one that required patience, resilience, and a new understanding of strength.
A consultant eventually recommended yoga, insisting she commit to it for at least eight weeks before making a judgement. Initially, Amelia hated it. It felt slow, unfamiliar, and far removed from the intensity she was used to. But she stuck with it—and then, something shifted. It all clicked.
She began with Iyengar yoga, building a strong foundation in alignment and awareness, before exploring Bikram and Ashtanga. Over time, yoga became more than just rehabilitation; it became a way of life. After many years of consistent practice, Amelia embarked on her Yoga Teacher Training, followed by a mentorship programme with Julee Yew-Crijns.
After teaching yoga for several years, Amelia expanded her movement repertoire. She completed her Barre training in London with Paola’s Body Barre, and then trained with Karen Aspinall at Ebb. Alongside this, she undertook Pilates training and later a mentorship with Owen, eventually completing her Reformer Teacher Training with him. Amelia has also assisted on two Pilates Teacher Trainings with Owen and has loved every minute of it.
Her teaching style reflects her journey—clear, supportive, and rooted in strong technical understanding, yet always delivered with a playful edge. In addition to her work in movement, Amelia is also a primary school teacher. This uniquely positions her to help individuals of all backgrounds find their own learning style, and she is known for being exceptionally supportive and encouraging.
Amelia will be on hand to assist, deliver content, and provide mentorship. She is always eager to learn and continues to regularly attend workshops and trainings, constantly striving to deepen her knowledge and facilitate even better classes.
